i’ve never liked summer

i’ve never liked summer

When it is empty again

And the summer sun looms,

Gloomy and oppressive,

Promise to wait.

Wait for my even breaths

To whisper against your neck;

To meet in the air

Somewhere

With yours-

And then inhale me.

Breathe in my fog:

Take me

Into your core;

Seeds and all,

seamlessly.

Breathe me in

Take me home

With you

Into you.

Promise-

Only at autumn’s last leaf, let me go;

Out into winter where our moving mouths survive

And plant silent traces of wind

Into the soil

Streaked with the scars of change.

It is there

I will be alive at last:

Hardened and frozen

And vowed to the dust of

The minutes from which we are made.

Peace amongst the ashes of time.
